Sharing what makes your food and your brand authentically yours, one photo at a time.

I help small businesses in the food industry tell their unique story through imagery that conveys the quality of their craft and inspires their target audience.

Hi, I’m Heather Terry, a seasoned photographer with over a decade of experience behind the lens and the founder of Culinary Captured.

My journey with photography began over 25 years ago, back in high school. It was a passion that blossomed over time and was fueled by the encouragement of those who saw something special in my work. After college, I found myself working in the nonprofit world, where I began taking photos for various projects. Although my work was well-received, I never considered pursuing it full-time until a significant turning point in my life.

The loss of my mother when I was 25 prompted me to reassess my priorities. Feeling overwhelmed and unfulfilled in my career, I decided to leave California behind and start a new life in Missouri. Despite initially taking a well-paying job in an industry far from my passion, I realized life is too short to be spent doing something I don’t love.

With this in mind, combined with my desire to make more time for my family, I started my own photography business almost 11 years ago. Although I initially explored various avenues to make ends meet, I eventually found my niche in lifestyle and commercial food photography.

Driven by a love for people and a deep understanding of the struggles small businesses face, I'm committed to helping brands tell their stories through captivating imagery. Not only has food photography allowed me to connect with brands I absolutely love, I get the privilege of helping them inspire their clientele through photography in the same way these brands inspire me.
